The County Offaly coat of arms features a gold lion representing the Uí Failghe people, the ancient kingdom from which the county takes its modern name.

The lion holds a distinctive cross inspired by the Book of Durrow, reflecting Offaly’s early Christian heritage. At the base of the shield, a black section represents the county’s extensive boglands and carries a sprig of bog rosemary, a flower closely associated with the raised bogs of the Irish Midlands.

The green, white, and gold sections reflect Offaly’s county colors, while the motto Esto Fidelis means Be Faithful, recalling the county’s traditional nickname, The Faithful County.
